It should not be any big surprise for anyone that security improvements, new security features and products are a top priority for most cloud providers. The huge financial impact the latest security breaches are generating within the market are highly noticeable, therefore the distrust from customers around cloud services are rising. Microsoft just announced the concept of Confidential Computing, a concept to allow encryption of data while in use.

At the end of July VMware has released vSphere Update 1. In fact, this is the first their update for vSphere 6.5, VMware’s major product. There are also other updates apart from the mentioned one. VMware Site Recovery Manager has been updated to the 6.5.1 version and VMware vSAN has been updated to 6.6.1. This news will be highlighted in further to prevent you from being overwhelmed by the massive lists of the Release Notes.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is continuously looking to expand their business (we’ve covered earlier about new regions coming for France, China, Sweden and Hong Kong), now they are pushing in another emerging market, South America: The Snowball technology will be offered to achieve faster migrations to the cloud to the Sao Paulo region.

Walmart is Asking Providers to Avoid Storing Information in AWS, but is that a Right Decision?

As a result of the recent major buyout from Amazon to Whole Foods, Walmart has recently asked their vendors and providers to not use Amazon Web Services (AWS) for hosting any of the Walmart data or even transactions. Adding to that recommendation, Walmart has been recommending to these providers to use Microsoft Azure instead. But is that a right decision to protect their information?
