Amazon recently announced a new addition to their current offerings, specifically around regions and confidentiality: AWS Secret Region. The AWS Secret Region can operate workloads, contain data and other functionalities using the Secret U.S. security classification level. The AWS Secret Region is available to the U.S. Intelligence Community (IC) through the IC’s Commercial Cloud Services (C2S) contract with AWS.

Amazon and Microsoft Now Announce a Joint Project: Gluon

Gluon was defined by these two companies as “an open source deep learning interface that allows developers to more easily and quickly build machine learning models without compromising training performance”. But, what exactly does this represent? It’s acting as an interface that lets developers, of different skill levels, use Python and pre-built deep learning templates to simplify the building of models to run neural networks.

Managing snapshots, or at least using a tool that manages the snapshots for you, is a very common scenario for any IT admin today. Windows clients have this option available for a long time, storage systems leverage snapshots for several processes, but probably the most well-known scenario we see snapshots today are backups. Microsoft just announced they are offering, as a public preview, the snapshots functionality for Azure File Shares.

“Availability Zones” main concept resides on offer fault-isolated locations within an Azure region, which provides redundant power, cooling, networking and any other component related to Azure’s datacenters. The mission for these availability zones is to, of course, provide high availability for workloads running in these datacenters to guarantee resiliency in case of an outage.

Walmart is Asking Providers to Avoid Storing Information in AWS, but is that a Right Decision?

As a result of the recent major buyout from Amazon to Whole Foods, Walmart has recently asked their vendors and providers to not use Amazon Web Services (AWS) for hosting any of the Walmart data or even transactions. Adding to that recommendation, Walmart has been recommending to these providers to use Microsoft Azure instead. But is that a right decision to protect their information?
